A valley bordering Ashenvale Forest and the Barrens, Warsong Gulch hosts a constant battle between the Horde and the Alliance. Orcs use their Warsong Mill to cut lumber reaped from Ashenvale, provoking the night elves of Silverwing Hold. Eager to aid their allies, members of every race in Azeroth rush to the Gulch to lend sword, or spell, to the conflict.

What the client says

  • A battleground.Its map row is typed 3, the client's number for a battleground; an arena is 4.
  • Not rated.Its queue row carries no rated team size, like every Classic Era row. Two Forever rows do: Battle for Gilneas at 10 and Hyjal Crater at 5.
  • Ten a side.Levels 10–60. Also drawn by the Random Battleground queue.
  • Built on 8 of its 16 terrain tiles.Those 8 tiles carry 1,115 placed objects and 19 buildings. It is the yardstick every other map here is measured against.
  • Dressed for a player.A loading screen, a description and 2 named areas (Warsong Lumber Mill and Silverwing Hold).

What it does not say

  • Anything the server decides.Objectives, scoring, start positions and rewards are set by the server, not the client tables.

What else the client carries for it

One caveat, because this is the figure most worth quoting. Built area is where terrain work exists, not where a player can walk. Alterac Valley's mountains are built ground to a level designer and a wall to everyone else. What this establishes is how much was made, not how much is playable, and not what the map is for, which only its queue rows say, and the card above states.
